Samehaling Stud has played a leading part in successfully establishing the Dorper breed in Namibia over the last 40 years. Today more than 80% of all sheep in Namibia are Dorpers, the main source of income in the south. The farm has a variety of landscape from dolomite rock formations and escarpments to red sand dunes and savannah grass. While the loose sand makes it difficult for animals to graze here, the Samehaling Dorper is bred to thrive in these conditions. Our thorough understanding of the Dorper and its survival in the Kalahari desert with its long distances, extreme temperatures and limited grazing, makes us leaders in profitable Dorper stud breeding.
